Takshashila University was formed with the avowed vision of enlightening the society by offering quality and world class education to the nation. The name of the university derived from ancient Takshashila University. This ancient university was located in the city of Taxila near the bank of the Indus river. According to Ramayan the Taxila city was founded by Bharat, the son of Kaikeyi and younger stepbrother of Ram. Along with Nalanda, Taxila was one of the seats of higher learning in ancient India.
